Past and Present:
Steve earned a BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) from the Ohio State University with a major in Real Estate & Urban Analysis, minor in Finance. At the time, OSU's College of Business was ranked 7th in the country among America's business schools. The Real Estate curriculum was a very rigorous and ground-breaking program under the direction of legendary professor Ronald L. Racster, Ph.D.
While in college, Steve bought his first rental property, a double. He rented one side and lived in the other. He sued for eviction, was sued, experienced the impact of court-ordered busing, saw the impacts of an economically-shifting neighborhood, and received a death threat. Yes, that early investment property gave him true life-learning experiences.
After graduation, he was hired and trained as a Personal Financial Advisor with IDS American Express, where he developed his fundamental beliefs in the importance of financial planning and asset diversification. Steve quickly adopted the newly-emerging concept of fee-based financial planning because he truly believes in the philosophy of "Plan first, then invest". He held the record for the most financial plans sold for the Central Ohio district of the IDS American Express company. The company also implemented Steve's suggestions into their client financial plans having to do with future college expenses over multiple children and time horizons.
After receiving solid training in sales, investments and financial instruments, Steve moved on to a real estate development division of an insurance company, where he was able to apply some of his "book knowledge" to the real world.
Over the years, Steve has owned and published 2 magazines, been the New Technologies Analyst for the largest daily newspaper in Ohio (The Columbus Dispatch) where he helped launch the original Dispatch.com website, and been the Advertising Manager for the Ohio State Bar Association, where he implemented marketing systems for both their print and on-line publications.
During the 30-plus years since acquiring his first rental property, he moved full-time into real estate investing and renovations. Steve was the founder of Family Heritage Homes, which strived to find under-valued properties, breathing life back into them for resale.
Previously working with The Anderson Layman Company, and more recently NAI Ohio Equities, Steve recently accepted a broker's position with Best Corporate Real Estate.
With the significant resources offered through Best Corporate Real Estate, Steve is able to draw on his many skills from finance, real estate investing and sales, management, advertising, marketing and technologies and small business ownership, in order to aid his clients. Steve is striving to grow the amount of commercial business and business brokerage which Best Corporate Real Estate does throughout Ohio.
